J: Match Bound

I have all kinds of stuff to tell you. But no kinds of time to tell you about the all kinds of stuff.

With my doctor's permission to hit the dance floor again (finally!) I have! I'm back in my unlimited month of classes and taking 2-3 hours of lessons per night. By the end of the day, I stumble through the door, exhausted and within minutes fall into dreamless sleep, only to wake up to the evil sound of my alarm clock, telling me to get to work...because yes....work is nutzo too with the launch of a huge project happening August 2nd. How do I balance all this AND hope to find a man worthy of the Mr. July title?

I don't. Balance it all, that is. Or not very well, at least.

So, here we are with tomorrow marking the half way point for July. HOW did so many days slip by so quickly?

I've made a commitment to Elle to get onto Match by the end of June. And then by my birthday. I have failed!

But, this weekend, I'm blocking a few hours and I'm getting 'er done! My profile is mostly done. Just a little more smoothing and it should be good.

Honestly, it's the stupid, stinkin picture that's freaking me out. Don't want to misrepresent. Don't want to frighten away. Surely I can find (or take) at least one decent one...surely.

Here's hoping I'm not getting out there too late to find someone in July. Here's hoping that Match is actually the miracle that I've heard and not the humiliating meat market that I fear.

And maybe in my allotted hours this weekend I'll check out a few other sites. I hear there's smart guys on okcupid. (And I do like the smart ones!) Would love advice from all of you out there who have ventured into online dating...successfully or not.

  1. I don't know if you'd necessarily call this a "success" story or not, but I met my ex of six years via match.com and had some pretty decent experiences before we dated (it didn't work out b/c he didn't want to commit after all that time together. I have heard that match is more for casual daters but who knows). Anyway, I've heard great things about eHarmony. Would you consider giving that one a go, too? I guess it depends on what you're looking for--a casual hookup? Serious boyfriend?

  2. i tried e-harmony with absolutely no success...i did however only agree to go on one date and it was aweful, but the other people they said were good for me weren't the type of guys I could see myself with. I've never tried match, but do have a friend that is happily married to someone she met on match and they are now expecting their first child so who knows maybe match works???
